How the spacebar test works
- Pick a length: 10 seconds is the most common.
- Press the spacebar to start. Every separate press counts; holding the key down doesn’t.
- When time is up you see your presses per second, and your best is saved on this device.
Tips for a higher score
- Alternate both thumbs on the spacebar instead of using one.
- Keep your wrists relaxed: tension slows you down after a few seconds.
- Light linear mechanical switches are faster to repeat than laptop or membrane keys.

FAQ
What is a spacebar test?
A spacebar test, or spacebar clicker, counts how many times you press the spacebar in a set time: 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. It's the keyboard version of the CPS (clicks per second) test.
Does holding the spacebar count?
No. Only separate presses count; the repeated characters your keyboard sends while a key is held down are ignored.
What is a good spacebar speed?
Most people manage 6–8 presses per second. 9–11 is fast, and above 12 usually takes alternating two thumbs or a light mechanical switch.
Can I do the spacebar test on a phone?
Yes. Tap the space bar button on screen; each tap counts as one press.
