How the CPS click speed test works

  1. Pick a length. 5 seconds is the most common, 1 second tests pure burst speed, 60 seconds tests endurance.
  2. Click inside the box. The timer starts with your first click.
  3. Your CPS is your clicks divided by the seconds. Your best for each length is saved on this device.

CPS for Minecraft PvP

In Minecraft Java Edition 1.8 PvP, attacks register on every click, so CPS matters: most competitive players hold 8–12 CPS while aiming. Since 1.9 an attack cooldown means timing beats raw speed, and clicking faster than about 2–3 times per second with a sword doesn’t add damage. Many servers also flag sustained CPS above 15–20 as auto-clicking.

Right click and mobile CPS tests

Switch the test to Right click to measure the other button: useful for block placing and for checking that both switches feel the same. On a phone or tablet the test counts taps, so it works as a mobile CPS test too.

How to click faster

  • Grip: a claw or fingertip grip lets your finger move faster than a relaxed palm grip.
  • Jitter clicking: tense your forearm so your finger vibrates on the button. Fast, but tiring.
  • Butterfly clicking: alternate your index and middle fingers on the left button.
  • Mouse: light switches with short travel help. A worn switch that double-clicks inflates your CPS; check it with the double click test.

Clicking very fast for long stretches can strain your wrist and hand. Warm up, take breaks, and stop if it hurts.

FAQ

What is a CPS test?

CPS means clicks per second. Click as fast as you can for a set time (1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds) and the test divides your clicks by the time. The timer starts on your first click.

What is a good CPS?

Most people click 6–7 times per second. 8–10 CPS is fast, and above 10 usually takes a technique like jitter or butterfly clicking. Results over 15 CPS are rare and come from butterfly clicking or drag clicking.

What is the world record for clicks per second?

Claimed records with butterfly or drag clicking go well above 20 CPS, but they aren't verified by any official body. For normal clicking with one finger, 10–14 CPS is elite.

What are jitter clicking and butterfly clicking?

Jitter clicking tenses the arm so the finger vibrates on the button. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button. Both raise CPS but tire you quickly; take breaks to avoid strain.

Is my best score saved?

Yes, your best result for each test length is saved in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.
