Privacy policy

Test My Device ("we", "us") runs free online tests for microphones, webcams, speakers and keyboards. This policy explains what information we collect and how it is used. Questions: hello@testmydevice.io.

Your microphone, camera and keystrokes

The tests use your browser's built-in access to your devices. Audio, video and the keys you press are processed only on your own device. They are never uploaded, recorded or stored on our servers, and we cannot see or hear them. A recording or photo you make in a test stays in the page and is gone when you close it, unless you choose to download it. Access to your microphone or camera ends when you close the tab, and you can revoke it at any time from your browser's address bar.

Information we collect

  • No accounts. You don't sign up or give us a name or email to use the tests.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type and request times for security and troubleshooting.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on our pages, never inside a running test. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, which tests they start, and whether a test found a working device or an error type (for example "permission denied"). We never send audio, video, keystrokes or device names to Google Analytics. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Your consent choices

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from Google with the options to accept, reject or manage cookies. Until you accept, advertising and analytics cookies are not used. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising using the link in Google's message or in Google Ads Settings.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
